GSUMC – Role Description

Role:                  Treasurer

Ministry Area:     Resource Ministries – Finance Committee

Purpose 

Term:                  3 years

Role Summary:

The Treasurer is the one who disburses all funds of the church, in a responsible and organized manner, with funds identified according to the church’s budget and bills paid when due. At Gum Spring UMC, the Treasurer is the one who prepares the monthly financial reports, and all tax forms, as well as attending all Finance Committee and Administrative Council meetings.

We at Gum Spring UMC should make our Treasurer’s role easier by informing him/her as to who has incurred and expense and what area of the budget should incur the expenditure. This can be done by writing your name and budget area on the invoice or receipt. Doing this would mean that our Treasurer doesn’t have to make so many follow-up calls.

     4.  Knowledge of good accounting skills.
