Role: Vacation Bible School Organizer
Ministry Area: Faith Development
Purpose:
Term: Annual, may be renewed.
Role Summary:
This person is asked to plan and direct the church’s Vacation Bible School (VBS).
Responsibilities:
1. Recruit teachers and craft leaders.
2. Set the date and time VBS will be held (announce this date and time in January or February if possible to make summer vacation scheduling easier for parents).
3. Meet with teachers one month before VBS
4. Order literature for each class.
5. A picnic is usually planned for Friday night during VBS.
6. Any items purchased by craft leaders or teachers should give bills to the treasurer.
7. Organize a clean-up committee - the kitchen and fellowship halls need to be swept and orderly every evening.
8. Work with church music director to organize music.
9. Recruit store director - There is a need to shop for the “store,” set up and organize prior to VBS.
10. Recruit someone to get banner printed and placed three weeks before VBS.
11. Recruit someone to return literature after VBS.
12. In consultation with the pastor, decide where the VBS offering will be sent.
13. Recruit a kitchen committee to provide daily snacks for participants.
14. Recruit someone to organize evening dinners.
