The Contractor has started to clear the site. This will be the construction entrance off Peter’s Way. Next, the contractor will erect a silt fence and construct the retention area. Once the erosion controls are established, they will begin to excavate the foundation.

December 12, 2011

After months of effort and work with the county and state regulatory agencies, we finally have our permit for construction. We expect to have our pre-construction meeting with the county and the contractor soon. Dirt should be moving in the next few weeks.

November 28, 2010

We broke ground on the new property, asking for God’s blessings for the many ministries that will take place in the new facility and on the property, that we make many disciples of Jesus Christ! We had a beautiful day and a great turnout.

November 7, 2010: We voted to proceed with a contract with Haley Builders to construct our new facility, just down the street at the corner of US 522 and Three Chopt Road. The new building will feature a sanctuary that seats over 300 worshipers. We will have 11 classrooms, plus a nursery, conference room, parlor, a children’s church room, youth area and fellowship space.

The entire facility will be fully accessible with no steps between the front door and the pulpit. An elevator will provide access to the downstairs, which is also accessible from the back parking lot.

We will have a groundbreaking celebration on the site on November 28. The building should be completed in 2011.

We ask you to continually to lift up our decision-making and financial decisions in your prayers as we seek to provide for God’s ministry at GSUMC.
